Wardrobing Fragrances the Trish McEvoy Way

October 21st, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

We have a wardrobe of clothes, shoes and accessories and Trish taught us that we need to carry that concept over into our beauty lives as well.  Makeup, skincare and fragrance work best when we have a wardrobe of these products to best work with our individual look and needs.

The wardrobing of fragrance can be done really in three ways and Trish knows a thing or two about fragrance as well.  She grew up with a strong interest in her grandmother’s Berlin business of owning a perfumery.

  • Use a fragrance to express your mood or the event of the day – what you wear as a fragrance to work may be completely different than what you wear out to a romantic dinner or even to run errands of the day.
  • Layer the same scent with body scrub, body lotion and top it with a spritz of fragrance to last throughout the day
  • Or use a few different scents at the same time to create your own custom, personalized scent.
Some of the Trish McEvoy fragrances are best used alone – like her newest scent Black Rose Oud.   This is a scent that evokes a sense of glamour and richness.  The notes include Black Baccara Rose, Oud oils and a captivating blend of vibrant florals, exotic spices and sensual woods.   This is definitely not the scent I would wear to run errands, but more going out to a candlelit dinner.
A few of my long-time favorites are  Trish and No. 9 and I’ve even been mixing a few of the blends together to create my own personalized scent.   Tell me, are you a one-scent person or do you have a wardrobe of scents and how do you use them?

Quiz: Beauty Tip or B.S.?

April 21st, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

We’ve all heard some pretty wacky skin, hair and body advice, but can you tell the tips that actually work from made up nonsense? We dare you to try. You hear them all the time. Your well-meaning grandma probably has more than a few. Makeup counter salespeople are notorious for theirs and smiley TV talk show correspondents love nothing more than to drone on (and on) about them. Yes, beauty tips — solicited or not — abound. The hitch? Not all of them are bona fide and more than a few can actually work against your beauty rather than enhance it.

Celebrities Do Care About More Than Just Gorgeous Hairstyles, Makeup and Gowns — "Variety"’s Power of Women Luncheon is Proof

October 7th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

We had the honor of attending “Variety”‘s Power of Women lunch last week, which is sponsored in part by L’Oreal Paris and honors celebs for outstanding charitable work. And we must admit that we were quite impressed with the shindig. Why? For starters, the celebrity guest list was impressive — Kerry Washington, Jennifer Garner, Katie Holmes, Diane Lane, Eva Mendes, Anne Hathaway the list goes on. But beyond that, the thoughtful work many of these celebrities are doing to help families, women and children in American and around the world, is touching and inspiring to learn about (yes, tears were shed). And they aren’t just putting their pretty makeup-laden faces to the causes. You can tell they actually care about their work and want to do all they can to get others involved.

The 16 Worst Drugstore Makeup Products

July 28th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

See which clumpy mascaras and flytrap sticky lip glosses our readers urge you to stay away from. Isn’t it the worst when you are super exited to try out that hot, new lipstick shade or the latest smoky eye gizmo, so you buy it and rush home or — who are we kidding — into your car to try it, only to be disappointed? Whether it’s a chi chi product or a cheap makeup item, it’s a bust either way. Spending any amount on makeup (even if it’s only $1.99) that doesn’t work is still a waste of money, not to mention it’s really annoying. And no matter how affordable drugstore beauty products are, if they don’t work, they’re never a good deal.
