Makeup: Tom Pecheux for M·A·C Cosmetics
Nails: Jin Soon Choi

“Inspired by words… the makeup was a process starting with natural, then mauve, lavender and violet were built on top of nudes.” explained Pecheux. He started by moisturizing skin with organic jojoba oil and added Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer as needed and swept Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder through the center of the face to set and provide a flawless matte finish. Next, he pressed and tapped Go Guava and Must Have Melon Lipsticks from M·A·C Trend Forecast Spring 15/Lip and Cheek (available Fall 2014) into cheeks for a peachy flush and highlighted upper cheekbones with Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish.

He curled the upper lashes and coated them with Haute & Naughty Black Lash Mascara before adding a violet mascara, Tarot (available spring/summer 2015), over them. Next, he smudged Lowlights Fluidline (available Spring/Summer 2015), a brown color, into the upper lash line to deepen and define and pressed M·A·C PRO Violetta lipstick from the lashline to crease and blending it towards the temple. He added a white pencil, Fascinating Eye Kohl, on the waterline to open the eye and finished with Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish over the browbone and inner corner of the eye.

On the lips, Pecheux applied Seasonally Peach and Spring Sensation from M·A·C Trend Forecast Spring 15/Lip and Cheek for a fresh finish.

To complement the makeup, Jin Soon Choi used products from her own and created a “fresh, polished and understated” manicure on the models. She used one coat of JINsoon Nostalgia followed by one coat of JINsoon Muse and finished with JINsoon Top Gloss.

Runway Beauty: Zac Posen Fall 2013

February 12th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At Zac Posen A/W 2013, makeup artist Kabuki working for MAC Cosmetics created a “Tilda Swinton with the snow falling outside look” while John Frieda Global Creative Consultant Luigi Murenu gave the models a glam, deconstructed chignon.

Zac Posen Fall 2013 Runway Beauty
* Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion – blended into skin to soothe, restore and replenish, preparing for foundation.
* Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15 – blended into prepped and primed skin to even and tone.
* MAC PRO Conceal Palette – used where needed to brighten and perfect.
* Studio Fix Plus Powder Foundation – swept on with a brush to set and create a flawless finish to skin.
* Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish – blended over cheekbones for a glow.

* 33 Lash – applied to the upper lashline for a beautiful, feminine focus to eyes.
* Untitled Paint – blended over eyelids to accentuate.
* Rapidblack Penultimate Eye Liner – thinly drawn through the upper lashline to define.
* Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara – used to blend natural lashes into 33 Lash and define upper lashes only.
* Gesso Eye Shadow – applied over the top of eyelids to highlight.

* Vino Lip Pencil – used to contour and execute a soft, feminine shape to the mouth.
* MAC Pro Burgundy Lipmix – blended over the entire lip to a rich, velvety-wine finish.

Hair How To
1. Before drying, Luxurious Volume Volume Building Mousse was raked through to build texture while still keeping the hair soft and touchable.

2. Hair was pulled back into a chignon at the nape of the neck, with a pieces left loose to give the look a messy, modern edge.

3. Each loose piece was carefully crimped, resulting in a mohair-like texture.

4. The look was set in place with Luxurious Volume All-Day Hold Hairspray.

Fall Makeup: Go Red with Neutrals

August 30th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Fall Makeup: Go Red with Neutrals

When it comes to some of the darker shades of fall lip colors, pairing them with a neutral eye is always an easy way to make them work for you without overwhelming your face. This is the kind of look where I challenge myself: “How many products that I need to review can I fit on my face for one look?” It’s the epitome of multi-tasking, right? Hey, at least it’s not my usual where I have half my face done in certain products… and the other half with something else.

All new products used will be reviewed on the blog – I’ll give you my take at that time 🙂

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), Guerlain Rue des Francs Bourgeois Eyeshadow Palette, Bobbi Brown Chocolate Brown Eyeliner (dark brown), Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara (black)
  • Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation (03), Guerlain Les Voilettes Mineral Powder (03)
  • Cheeks: Rock & Republic Call Me Blush (pinky coral)
  • Lips: Guerlain Gwen Rouge G Lipstick (deep red), Guerlain Violine (462) Kiss Kiss Gloss Serum (burgundy red)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply the bottom left shade of the palette on the inner third of the lid and pull upwards along the inner crease. Lightly blend the upper left shade of the palette on the middle of the lid with the 239. Next, apply the bottom middle shade of the palette onto the outer lid with the 239. Define the crease with the upper middle shade of the palette with the 226. Blend the upper left shade of the palette with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Chocolate Brown eyeliner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.

For cheeks, apply Call Me blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Gwen lipstick first, and then layer Violine lipgloss for a complementing lip.
