Runway Beauty: at Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2015

September 8th, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Inspired by hazy, diffused photos taken by Deborah Turbeville, the look at Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2015 centered around “nouveau natural” makeup look with sexy bedhead hair and watercolor, ombre nails.

Makeup
“To complement the bohemian pastels and gauzy romanticism of Rebecca’s collection, we focused on petal pink hues and softly illuminated skin with an unexpected sheen.” explained Stila Global Director of Creative Artistry Sarah Lucero. First, Lucero applied Stila Stay All Day Foundation and set it with Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation. To add a pink glow on the cheeks, she used All Over Shimmer Powder in Kitten. Next, she defined the eyes with the Window Shadow Palette and Smudgestick in Espresso then coated lashes with Mile High Mascara. To finish, she groomed brows with Stila All Day Brow and dabbed Color Balm Lipstick in Olivia and Vivienne.

Nails
Inspired by the unique 3D prints and color scheme in the collection, manicurist Michelle Saunders working for essie created freehand watercolor nail art for the hands. She started with one coat of blanc to make the polish shades appear brighter. Then beginning at the nail bed, she applied one coat of bikini so teeny to half of the nail. Next, she applied one coat of turquoise & caicos to the remaining half of the nail, slightly overlapping with bikini so teeny in the middle. She dipped a striping brush in lollipop and created a thin horizontal fault line across each nail. Directly after creating the fault line, she applied a generous amount of good to go top coat over the entire nail and continued to blend towards the tip of the nail until the desired look is achieved.

Hair
On damp hair, stylist Odile Gilbert working for Kérastase applied Mousse Bouffante and created a side part and blow dried hair with fingers. Section by section, she spritzed Spray A Porter and used a 2″ barrel curling iron in a vertical direction, twisting hair around the barrel and leaving the ends loose to create soft waves. Once all sections are curled, she ran fingers through the hair and sprayed V.I.P liberally throughout. Finally, she set the look in place with Laque Dentelle.

Runway Beauty: Jungle Beauty at Mara Hoffman Resort 2015

July 23rd, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Amazonian jungle beauty served as inspiration at Mara Hoffman Resort 2015. As a result, Celebrity Makeup Artist and Global Artistic Director for Stila Cosmetics Sarah Lucero created tropical green eyes and rainforest dewy skin. “Mara wanted a full brow and a pop of emerald in the corner of the eyes – Brooke shields meets blue lagoon!” explained Sarah.

Skin was perfected, dewy and radiant with Stila Stay All Day Foundation. Using a Beauty Blender, Sarah pressed Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Bronzing Beauty Balm and Sun Gel into the cheeks and added Stila Convertible Color in Camellia with other shades for warmth.

For a pop of color on the eyes, Sarah added Stila Liquid Eyeliner in Emerald on the outer corners of the bottom lashline. Next, she curled models’ lashes and applied Stila Mile High Lashes Mascara. Brows were groomed with Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color and Tinted Brow Gel.

To finish, she added a combination of Stila Passionfruit and Cherry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain on the lips.

Runway Beauty: Sun-Kissed Sirens at Clover Canyon Resort 2015

July 21st, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Celebrity Makeup Artist and Global Artistic Director for Stila Cosmetics Sarah Lucero created the most perfect “sun-kissed sirens” at the Clover Canyon Resort 2015 show for Miami Mercedes Benz Miami Swim Week. “The makeup was minimal with a fun pop of color. Skin was kept young, fresh and healthy and just warmed up with orange tones on both the face and lip.” explained Sarah.

Sarah used Stila Stay All Day 10-In-1 HD Illuminating Beauty Balm and a bit of concealer where needed. To create the gorgeous bronze on the cheeks, she custom blended Stila Gladiola Convertible Color and Peony Convertible Color depending on the models’ skin tone.

On the eyes, she added a light dusting of Jezebel Eyeshadow from the upcoming Stila Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Spirit on the lids. Lashes were then curled and coated with Stila’s new Mile High Lashes Mascara while the brows were kept natural with Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color and Tinted Brow Gel.

Finally, a blend of Stila Avery and Valentina Color Balm Lipsticks were pressed into the lips for a soft punch color.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer Review and Swatches

December 13th, 2012

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

After reading all the raves on Makeupalley and various blogs, I finally caved and got the new Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer, an ultimate multitasking duo for flawless, breathable coverage.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer in Hue review
Packaged in a 30ml clear bottle with a built-in spatula, the foundation touts an oil-free, high-definition, high-performance formula that utilizes an unique oxygen technology to leave skin hydrated, nourished and to prevent premature aging. It is also enriched with botanical extracts to enhance circulation and blood flow, resulting in an increase of oxygen delivered to the skin, along with an array of skin-loving ingredients and innovative extracts to slow down the onset of premature aging.

There are 16 shades available that run from light to dark, with both yellow and neutral undertones. I normally wear the third lightest shade in Stila and Hue, a light to medium color with yellow undertones, was the perfect match for my NC30 skin.

Compared to your regular liquid foundation, this has a slightly thicker, almost cream-like texture that felt surprisingly lightweight. It glided on and blended easily with both fingers and the #35 Flat Brush that was included, without highlighting dry patches or fine lines. The coverage was medium and very buildable with a satiny, skin-like finish that gradually turned dewy – but not oily – as the day progressed.

The concealer on the other hand, reminded me a lot of my favorite Bobbi Brown Correctors and Concealer. It was cleverly hidden inside the cap and came with a mini mirror for touch-ups. It felt insanely creamy and moisturizing and provided great coverage. The wear, just like the foundation, was excellent and managed to stay on without caking or turning orange even after 10 hours.

Overall, I love the Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer. I have been using it every day since I got it and highly recommend it for those with dry to combination skin.

FOTD to come this week!

Eyeliner Tips from Stila’s Sarah Luero

November 7th, 2012

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Tonight I sat down with Sarah Luero, celebrity makeup artist and Global Director of Creative Artistry & Education for Stila Cosmetics, for an exclusive preview of the gorgeous Holiday 2012 Collection. Sarah also showed us a few pointers on how to rock my favorite Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liners, including how to layer them.

* Put on mascara before you apply eyeliner. This will help maximize your eye area and allow you to really see where to apply the liner.

* To create what Sarah calls a “double-decker eyeliner”, start with a black or brown color like Stargazer and Oscar Fish from the new Stila Seeing Stars Smudge Stick Set (pictured below). Line your eyes like you normally would from the inner corner to the outer corner. Next, apply a different, brighter color (try Moray or Tetra from the same set) on top to really make it pop.

* Be creative. Use your Smudge Sticks as eyeshadows or even highlighters by applying TONS on the back of your hand then dabbing the product onto specific areas. They key is to work quickly, as the liners do dry fast and once they set, they will not budge!

* Sarah’s favorite look for the Holidays? Lots of eyeliner paired with a flawless complexion, a bit of cream blush and a bold matte berry lip.

Are you a fan of Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liners? How do you use them?

Stila Seeing Stars Smudge Stick Set is now available at stilacosmetics.com and Sephora for $32 or you can take advantage of the Beauty.com 20% Off Friends and Family Sale and get it for less!
