Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Review, Swatches and Photos

October 27th, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

It is no secret that Laura Mercier makes one of the best foundations out there – just ask the long line of celebrity fans including Katy Perry, Jennifer Anniston, Angelina Jolie and more. And this fall, we have Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide, a new addition to the permanent collection.

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Review Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide
Boasting a lightweight, 12-hour wear and oil-free formula, the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide is a liquid foundation that claims to magically blur imperfections and is suitable for all skin types. Its bi-phase formula utilizes a Hydro-Brilliant Technology that features reflective waters and natural silica for color-true shades and requires shaking prior to each use to activate fresh color, just like Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup. The foundation is designed to be water-resistant, humidity-proof and sweat-proof and is non-comedogenic as well.

There is a wide selection of 24 shades to fit different skintones. On my NC30 skintone, I use Cashew, a light color with neutral/slightly warm undertones. Macadamia and Dusk were two other matches that could work.

Compared to the Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation that I loved, the Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide felt much thinner and more lightweight. Despite its runny texture, the foundation was nicely pigmented and offered medium, buildable coverage. I like to put a few drops on a foundation brush and apply under my eyes and around the nose for coverage that is just enough for everyday.

The foundation blended very easily and dried off swiftly to a natural, matte finish that looked and felt like skin. While it did not feel particularly moisturizing on my dehydrated combo skin, it did not highlight dry patches or flakes either. Also worth mentioning is how well the foundation wore. Even without a primer, the foundation stayed on nicely without oxidizing or fading for over 8 hours.

Look At The Label: Clinique Lid Smoothie

December 21st, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Post image for Look At The Label: Clinique Lid Smoothie

Palacinka Beauty is a little freaked out by cooling makeup but is starting to warm up to the idea of Clinique Lid Smoothies. What makes this eye make up feel so cool? Let’s look at the label to find out.

Ingredients

Water
Solvent.

Dimethicone
Silicone to give lids a smooth feel.

Isododecane
A volatile hydrocarbon, that means it will  evaporate and make your eyelids feel cooler. (I had expected to see some kind of menthol derivative to give a cooling effect but that’s not a good idea to use around the eyes – this is a much better solution.)

Methyl Trimethicone
Silicone based emulsifier.

Trimethylsiloxyslicate, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer
Spreading agents.

Polysilicone-11
Slip and smooth agent.

Glycerin
Another humectant.

Magneseum Myristate
Emulsifier.

Copernicia Cerifera

Wax, Silica,Microcrystalline wax
Gives the product body and controls spreadability.

Butylene Glycol
Humectant.

PEG-10 Dimethicone
Emulsifier/silicone for slip and smooth feel.

Cucumber fruit extract
Hey, you put cucumber slices on your eyes to reduce puffiness so this extract must help keep your lids smooth, right? Wrong!

Carrot Root Extract, Spinach leaf extract, Broccoli Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract
Other useless extracts that look good on the label.

Caffeine
Keeps your eyelids stimulated so you don’t fall asleep. Just kidding, this extract really does nothing.

Aloe Barbadenisis Leaf Water
Looks good on the label.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
Supposedly relaxes muscle contractions to help prevent wrinkle formation.

Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer
Gives the product body and feel.

Ozokerite
Wax thickener.

Ethylhexylglycerin, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Hexyl Laurate
Emulsifiers.

Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone
Emulsifier/silicone for slip and smooth feel.

Tocopheryl Acetate
Antioxidant, may help protect the product but won’t do much for your skin.

Dipropylene Glycol
Humectant, keeps the product from drying out.

Sodium Chloride
Thickener.

Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol
Preservatives.

Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Bismuth Oxychloride
Opacifier to help the cover skin better and sparkly bits to make it shimmer.

Iron Oxides
Colorant (Iron Oxides are one of the few colorants approved for use around the eye.)

Dior Skinflash Primer

March 28th, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Using primers under our makeup helps to smooth out any imperfections, makes pores disappear and can make your skin look flawless. They also give the extra benefit of not only allowing your foundation to go on more smoothly and thus using less foundation, they also allow your makeup stay in place longer. Primers are also great for women over 40 as they sometimes fill in fine lines and pores.

I always seem to be on the quest for the perfect primer. I love my Dior Crystal Nude Natural Matte Skin Perfector. It’s convenient to use, makes my skin smooth and I especially like it for touch-ups during the day.

But, for my morning routine I have to say I like this Dior SkinFlash Primer better. Why? Several reasons. The applicator is easy with this built-in brush (the tube is much wider than the highlighter pens), this is a creamy-peach color that melds into the skin flawlessly and without color. It doesn’t feel thick like some primers. There is a slight bit of shimmer in this primer, which I hesitate to use the word “shimmer” It’s more of a glow in a tube. It doesn’t leave you all shiny and slick, but instead smooth and glowing and your skin just looks more youthful.

On weekends when I don’t feel like putting any make up but maybe need to look a little more polished, I just swipe this on without putting on foundation. It calms and soothes my complexion as well as giving it that glow. Mornings Skinflash Primer, afternoons Crystal Nude Skin Perfector for touch-ups.

This is available exclusively at Sephora and Dior.com
