First, Jake prepped Jenna’s skin with Sjal Cellular Renewal Cream before applying Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. Then, he lined her eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and applied Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte, which he also used to fill in her brows. Next, he coated Jenna’s lashes with Avon Mega Effects Mascara and swiped mark Chic Frills Powder Blush on the apples of her cheeks. To complete the look, Jake applied Avon Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick in Creamy Melon on the lips and added Chanel Jardin De Camelias Illuminating Powder on the cheekbones for a glow.

Hair
“The Oscars are a great time for my clients to get glammed. Jenna’s dress had so much detail and texture that I wanted to make sure to show off the collar and neckline. With the dress being so pretty, I wanted the hair to stay off her face, but to still have soft movement. I wanted her hair to look breeze blown, but still keep it up and off the dress.” explained Jen, representing CLEAR Scalp & Hair.

To get this look at home, start by washing hair with Clear Scalp & Hair’s Strong Lengths Shampoo and Conditioner. After washing, rough dry hair with hands and smooth out the ends with a brush. Next, set your part then flat iron hair, from mid-lengths to ends. Pull hair into a ponytail and let pieces fall as they may. Tease the ponytail for fullness and pin into a bun. Use a brush to lightly tease at the crown for soft flyaways and finish with hairspray.

Makeup Tutorial: How To Foil Eyeshadow

April 22nd, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Looking for a way to REALLY make your eye makeup pop and last? Try foiling, a popular technique that involves applying eyeshadow wet to create a shiny, foil-like effect.

How To Foil Eyeshadow makeup tutorial

Applying pigments dry vs wet with mixing medium

Foiling How To
Before you foil, check to see if your eyeshadow can be used wet. Foiling a shadow that cannot be used wet will ruin its texture and leave behind a hard spot. All pigments and loose eyeshadows can be used wet.

Step 1. Add a drop or two of mixing medium to your brush. I am a huge fan of MAC Water-based Mixing Medium but water, saline eye drops or even a makeup setting spray will work just as great. Make sure your brush is damp – not soaking wet.

Step 2. Dip the brush directly into the eyeshadow. If you are using a pigment or loose eyeshadow, pick up product that is stuck onto the inside of the lid to avoid getting too much product.

Step 3. Tap off excess and apply directly onto the eyes in a patting motion. Repeat this step until you have achieved the intensity you want.

Step 4. Once the color has dried off completely, blend off the edges. Feel free to add in other colors as desired.

Extra Tips On Foiling
* Don’t own any pigments or shadows that can be used wet? Just wet the brush after you have dipped it into the shadow.

* Foiling works under and over dry shadows. In the look above, I applied MAC Blonde’s Gold Pigment wet on the lid then blended MAC Sweet Sienna Pigment dry on the outer corner and up the crease before using MAC Deep Blue Green Pigment wet as a liner.

Molly began by prepping Kate’s skin with By Terry’s Sève de Rose ultra-glow serum and then sparingly applied Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation. She then based her cheeks using Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in Peach Glow. A touch of rose was given to Kate’s cheeks with Laura Mercier Cream Blush in Rosebud and to finish off her radiance Molly dusted the apples with Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Santa Rose.

Eyes
For Kate’s mesmerizing stare, Molly made her eyes pop with a sexy golden khaki hue. She started the look by applying Rimmel ScandalEyes Eye Shadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige and continued to deepen her shadow with NARS Duo Shadow in Paramaribo. She then defined Kate’s stare using Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black to line her eyes super close to the upper lash line as well as just below the lower lash line. For the extra pop Molly lined the inside of Kate’s wet line with Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Nude. To finalize her sexy bold eye look, she then applied two coats of Rimmel ScandalEyes Show Off Mascara in Black.

Lips
To finish off the look, Molly applied Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Pink Blush and topped it off with Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in Always Lovely.

What kind of makeup remover formula do you prefer?

November 13th, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

What kind of makeup remover formula do you prefer? Oil, gel, cream, mousse, lotion, wipe? Something else? Why?

For intense lip products, I like makeup remover wipes, because it takes it right off and there is no scrubbing involved. For intense eye looks, I like dual-phase removers like Lancome Bi-Facil, because it gets everything off without a fuss. Generally, I use a cleansing oil (like shu uemura’s), which works well to get most makeup off (even intense eye or lip makeup) but may not get into the nooks and crannies.
