NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment Review

November 22nd, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Having been a fan of the NARSskin line, I was very excited to find out about the new NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment – a gel-to-oil overnight treatment that helps replenish dull, dry skin for a smoother, renewed and revitalized complexion by morning.

NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment
Like NARS’s famous Aqua Gel, the NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment comes in a jar packaging and contains 30 ml of product. It packs:

* A powerful blend of natural almond, plum and rice bran oils which contain a chock-full of essential fatty acids and nourishing omegas to help reinforce skin’s natural lipid barrier while infusing it with antioxidants.
* Salicornia extract to boost skin’s moisture levels over time.
* Alaria extract to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
* NARS exclusive Light Reflecting Complex™ which features a blend of ingredients that work in synergy to boost skin’s clarity, infusing it with moisture and minerals.
* An advanced Gel Matrix Technology to create a veil that locks in moisture, recharging skin at rest and helping it awaken to a nourished, softer, more luminous appearance with a 146% boost in hydration.

The product itself is a light yellow color and smells DIVINE, very much like a beauty oil. Although the texture was thicker and felt a tad heavy at first, once I massaged it into the skin, everything sank in instantly and left behind a healthy, dewy glow that was not greasy.

I was most impressed with how insanely hydrating it was. When I woke up the next morning, any fine lines, flakiness or rough patches that I had the night before were completely GONE! In fact, my skin felt so hydrated that there was absolutely no tightness after I washed it and I could for once get away with not using any moisturizer – yes even in this fall, almost winter-ish weather! The treatment was also the only product that managed to keep my skin soft and supple during a 15-hour flight to Hong Kong. Seriously, it might have possibly beat my favorite Asian sheet masks in keeping my dehydrated skin happy!

The only caveat? A little goes a longggggggggggggggggggggg way – I made the mistake of using too much the first time and my makeup slid right off – which does make the hefty price tag of $85 versus the $58 for Aqua Gel much more affordable.

Does sleeping with makeup age your skin?

February 13th, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Doffy asks…People always claim that sleeping with makeup is damaging to the skin. They say it ages the skin faster, but they never explain why. So I’m curious as to what happens to our skin at night, since it suddenly can’t handle the makeup anymore (which has already been there for hours during the day!)

The Beauty Brains respond:

We’ve never seen any data showing that makeup makes skin age faster but there are a few potential negative consequences of leaving makeup on all night.

3 reasons NOT to sleep with makeup on

1. It might get into your eyes and irritate them.
2. Prolonged contact, especially if your pillowcase occludes the makeup against your skin, can lead to increased irritation.
3. If the ingredients are prone to be comedogenic presumably leaving them on the skin over night could increase the likelihood of blackheads.

Marc’s inspiration for the collection stems from the spirit of “The Girl” and her makeup ritual. “I think the idea of transforming into this person you want to be is a lot of fun… it’s this idea of a young woman enjoying creating her look, getting ready for her night out, or her night after her night out.”

A few things I’m looking forward to checking out are Magic Marc’er Precision Pen, Style Eye-Con No.7 Plush Eyeshadow and Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation. 2013 Golden Globes Red Carpet Beauty: Sofia Vergara

January 16th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

CoverGirl spokesperson Sofia Vergara rocked her signature brown smoky eye with a brick red lip at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards last night. Read on for details on how celebrity makeup artist Kayleen McAdams created the look!

Get Sofia Vergara's makeup at 2013 Golden Globes Awards
“I wanted to do a brick red lip on Sofia – something a little deeper and more interesting than a classic red lip. Old Hollywood glamour is a trend for awards season, so Sofia and I did our own twist on the look!” said Kayleen.

Face
“I started by applying Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Classic Tan (#860) all over and set it with COVERGIRL + Olay Pressed Powder in Medium. Then, I applied a light dusting of Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Brown Bronze and Cheekers Blush in Sierra Sands, a warm blush, on the apples of the cheeks.”

Eyes
“I wanted to give the eye a wash of shadow, so I used only one shade, Eye Enhancers 1-Kit in Brown Smolder, and softly blended it over the entire lid. I applied LiqulineBlast Liner in Brown Blaze along the bottom lash line and extended it past the lash line to give a slight wing. I finished off the look with three coats of Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara on top to really emphasize the lashes, followed by one coat on the bottom.”

Lips
“On the lips, I applied Queen Collection Lipcolor in Into the Red straight from the tube, blotted and added another coat to make it last all night. I gave Sofia the lipstick to keep in her clutch so she could touch herself up throughout the night.”
