Makeup, Hair, & Nails @ Erickson Beamon S/S 2012

WOW! The styling at Erickson Beamon was ridiculous–and I mean that in the best way! After seeing a lot of nude/neutral colors and looks at other shows, it’s such a breath of fresh air! I have a ton of photos to go through, so I’ll be updating this post in the next couple of hours with more (and I’m still working on getting a breakdown of what was used for the makeup).

Nonie from Butter London for Beauty.com created pops of color on the nails using a neon orange, chartreuse, magenta (with a little touch of shimmer), and teal. The magenta and teal shades are definitely part of the spring/summer collection but she hasn’t decided whether the other two will come out (I totally voted for chartreuse!). They put a different color on each fingernail and toenail. The backstage area was so cramped, there were Butter London team members sitting on the floor and crunched in some really awkward-looking positions!

PHYTO for Beauty.com was styling the hair, which was sleek and elegant twist around the crown of the head. It was designed to be understated, because the makeup and nails were already so bold and vibrant.

MAC was responsible for the makeup. Chantal Miller, MAC Senior Artist, was the key artist for the makeup look, and she used a lot of PRO products, like Paintsticks, Glitters, and Pigments. The models also wore hand-cut paper lashes, which the models said were odd at first but after a few minutes, they were used to them. Lots and lots of glitter along the brow bone and underneath the eye, as well as a bold lip with more glitter patted on top. It was a superstar team back there; I also spotted Senior Artists Fatima, Romero, and Neil (UK) at work. (Fatima even told me she reads Temptalia, which was totally a “No way!” moment for me.)

#1: Eyes
Be it the pop of color on the inner crease at Carl Kapp or the color block at Shakuhachi, orange on the eyes is simply HOT! Remember to wear the look with an extra coat of mascara and understated lips.

#2: Cheeks
Applied on the cheeks, orange blush can instantly add warmth to any complexion. Pair with a matching lipgloss like the look at Talulah for a hip, monochromatic look.

Finally we have bright orange lips, which is no doubt a regular on the runway. Check out how I wear MAC Morange Lipstick and my very own two-tone lip.

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

We gave the models a break and pointed cameras at everyone from makeup artists to PR gals to photographers to capture our favorite beauty looks. With the explosion of reality TV and the popularity of gossip sites and magazines exploiting “stars” like Kate Gosselin or Kim Kardashian, we all have an undeniable fascination with real people. So this year at New York Fashion Week, we thought that instead of showing off beauty trends seen on models, we’d share our favorite hair and makeup looks seen on real women.
