Runway Beauty: Italy Inspired Romance at Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2016

October 1st, 2015

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

The Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2016 show in Milan presented a fashion collection which is the Designers’ tribute to Italy. The Designers’ vision, “Italy is Love”, was complemented by a makeup look highlighting luminous skin with a flawless, dewy finish; soft and smoky feline eyes and plump lips. Nails in a feminine, romantic shade completed the look.

To start, Dolce & Gabbana Essential UV Cream was first applied to hydrate the skin, followed by the Sheer Radiance Primer to build the perfect canvas for make up application. A flawless complexion was achieved using the Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation blended outward, from the center of the face out towards the ears. The Perfect Luminous Concealer was applied to the shadowed areas of the face and dabbed under the eyes, hiding blemishes and creating an impeccable base with an even skin tone. The cheeks displayed a warm, romantic flush by being delicately contoured with the new Blush in Bacio 50, which was swept onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears. The face was highlighted using The Illuminator in Eva 3 along the cheekbones and on the bridge of the nose, while the skin was set with a light dusting of The Pressed Powder across the nose and forehead.

The romantic, soft feline eye look was achieved with a base of Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Nude 30 blended across the eyelids. The two complementary shades of brown from The Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky 105 were mixed together and applied with a blending blush along the crease of the eyelids to create depth. For added definition, The Illuminator in Luna 4 was applied to the inner corner of the eyes and below the eyebrows. The upper lash lines were amplified by applying The Eyeliner in Chocolate 10 in an upward flick, and a line of the Glam Liner in Earthy Brown 2 was drawn along the upper lash line, to add an intense yet feminine feline finish. On the curled top lashes, layers of the Volumized Mascara in Black 1 were applied, paying special attention to the outer corners for definition and a lengthening finish.

The brows were sculpted with The Brow Liner in Soft Brown 1 and Mocha 3, using the wide part of the pencil nib with light, feathery strokes to fill the color outwards to the end of the brow, achieving a natural youthfulness to the face.

For beautiful, rosy plump lips, from the new collection of Dolce Matte Lipstick, a mixture of shades were combined to create perfectly tailored spring looks using Dolce Nudo 124, Miss Dolce 134, Dolce Dolcezza 212, Dolce Rosa 222, Dolce Sogno 223, Dolce Mamma 229, Dolce Excelsa 512 and Dolce Bacio 641. To give lips definition and to keep the lipstick in place, the lips were lined with The Lipliner in Mamma 17, Rosa 16, Dolcezza 15, Bacio 18 and Soft 6. Nails painted with The Nail Lacquer in Bella 210 evoke elegance and finish this soft and feminine Spring/Summer 2016 look.

Runway Beauty: Glam Rock at Creatures of the Wind S/S 2016

September 17th, 2015

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At Creatures of the Wind Spring/Summer 2016, models rocked a Siouxsie Sioux inspired glam rock look. “She always had a very strong eye look – it had the same spirit, but was applied differently each time. The look is very eclectic with a lot of layering, which plays off the layering in the collection. It’s punk, tough looking. I loved the richness of the gold against the toughness of the black. It’s an updated, modernized take on eyeliner,” explained de Mey.

The skin was first prepped with NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream then perfected with Stick Concealer and set with Soft Velvet Loose Powder.

On the eyes, de Mey created a dramatic wing with a variety of products (Black Valley Eye Paint, Via Veneto Larger Than Life® Eyeliner, Black Moon Eyeliner Pencil and Pandora Duo Eyeshadow). The gorgeous gold was the result of Iskandar Eye Paint topped with glitter. Brows were kept groomed with Oural Brow Gel and Brow Perfector.

To finish, de Mey gave models two different lip looks – a red using Mysterious Red Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and Nihiwatu Velvet Lip Liner; and a nude with just concealer and NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment.

On the nails, Hughes went for a simple yet bold look that was inspired by the hippie meets punk vibe of the collection. Four high-shine nail colors – white (Cotton Buds), blue (Skive), black (Union Jack Black) and yellow (Cotton Buds topped with Cheeky Chops)- were assigned to models based upon their look, and finished Patent-Gel Topcoat for a thick, high-shine finish.

Kendal created the gorgeous eye look by applying Aigle Noir Velvet Shadow Stick (available Fall 2015) topped with Transvaal Eye Paint, a matte medium cool-toned grey. She added the matte gray-brown shade of Bellissima Duo Eyeshadow on the lower eye, blending directly onto the circles of the eyes and on the cheeks to further heighten the Gothic vibe. The rest of the face was left dewy with Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer/Sheer Glow Foundation and Radiant Creamy Concealer.

To create the ghostly, obscure taupe nail look, Saunders layered two coats of jazz, with a neutralizing matte top coat.

She created the graphic eye look using Black Valley Eye Paint and paired it with Dolce Vita and Mata Hari Blush for a hint of color on the cheeks, and Copacabana Multiple on top of the cheekbones for extra dewiness. She finished the look by adding Triple X Lip Gloss, which was a clear gloss, on the lips.

Runway Beauty : Tropical Femininity at Christian Siriano A/W 2015

February 17th, 2015

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

To go with the Congo Jungle inspired elements in the Christian Siriano A/W 2015 collection, models were given tropical eye makeup in shades of plum and yellow, a customized hunter green to black ombre nail and “three-dimensional graphic” hair.

Makeup: Polly Osmund for M·A·C Cosmetics
Hair: Sebastian Professional International Artist Anthony Cole
Nails: Jamberry

To create the eyes, the main focus of the makeup look, Osmund applied M·A·C Everyone’s Darlin’ Eyeshadow and topped Penny Arcade from M·A·C Trend Forecast Fall ’15/Eye over it to intensify the color. She added M·A·C Chrome Yellow Eyeshadow on the inner corners for a vivid contrast and M·A·C Mahogany Lip Pencil on the waterline. Osmund kept the rest of the face looking wet and almost sweaty with Face and Body Foundation or Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation and Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer, and added M·A·C Taupe Powder Blush and M·A·C PRO Gloss Texture to contour and highlight. The lips were hydrated with M·A·C Lip Conditioner and blotted down with foundation.

To get the hair look, Cole mixed 2 parts Sebastian Professional Mousse Forte with 1 part Sebastian Professional Gel Forte and applied it to the roots, taking 2 inch sections temple to temple from the nape of the neck up. With a flat brush, he blow dried the hair back, slightly directing the hair in the front to either side and making sure it was still brushed back. Next, he sprayed Sebastian Professional Shine Shaker on hair to create a wet look and took random pieces of hair from the side of the face before adding Sebastian Professional Gel Forte and Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber to help create waves. He then applied Sebastian Professional Liquid Steel to keep the waves together and in place and finished with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce.
