Introducing: Makeup Recommendations

We have all found at least a few items we absolutely love and reach for often because they just suit us, whether flattering on our skin tone, with our hair color/eye color, or based on our skin type. This list is designed to help compile our tried and true recommendations to help others find their favorites (and hopefully, you’ll find some new favorites, too!).

We are all our own experts and the power of collaboration allows us to come together and harness all of that expertise in a way that can benefit the entire beauty community. Some of the most popular questions we’ve asked have been related to everyone’s favorite pink blush or red lipstick! Together, we can create a more comprehensive list of our personal favorites, based on our skin tone, skin type, hair color, and eye color.

Share your favorites!

Use our easy recommendation form to add your favorite products and holy grail shades to our list. (Please allow a few minutes for the list itself to update.)

MULTIPLE LISTINGS ARE OKAY! They’re good, even! If 10 people with similar coloring all recommend the same product, isn’t it a sign that it really must be amazing?

Foundation recommendations can be added to the Foundation Matrix.

Head over HERE to check out recommendations as recommended by your fellow enthusiasts.

P.S. — I put in all the product types/colors I thought were appropriate, but if I missed one (I am sure I did!), just let me know in the comments, and I’ll add it ASAP.

Do You Trust Cosmetic Ads?

September 8th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Post image for Do You Trust Cosmetic Ads?

When you’re watching a commercial with a flawless woman complaining about something and then putting on makeup to make her even more flawless, do you ever feel cheated? Do you feel like you can’t trust these companies that claim to sell you disappearing-wrinkle creams, acne-covering concealers, eyelash-enhancing mascaras, etc.? We’ve all been there, sitting in front of the TV, wondering why we never look the way the models do.

According to CosmeticsDesign, it’s time for that to change. Consumers are feeling more and more distrust every time they see one of these ads. One thing that will increase faith in these companies is the regulating associations, and obvious respect shown towards them. Also, the companies must (of course) fulfill their claims.

Social media is a tool that is more likely to help than hurt, if pulled off the right way, and it’s time for companies to step up to the plate. Feedback from purchasers will help, they claim.

Don’t sit on the couch disbelieving – buy the product and be amazed. And if you’re not amazed, that’s right – send that angry email. You have power. Use it.
