Trish McEvoy – The Power of Tools

September 6th, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Brushes make a world of difference for your makeup application.   The difference between using the cheap little sponge or unusable tiny brushes that typically come with some makeup vs using quality brushes can dramatically change how makeup looks on your face.   And good brushes are not for professionals only.

I love my Trish McEvoy brushes – I’ve been collecting them for years and have never been disappointed in any of them – ever.   From the full sized brushes to the actual usable sized travel brushes from Trish McEvoy that I own, they all are part of my brush collection which get used and not just admired.  They are work-horse brushes that do their job beautifully.  Another wonderful thing is that I have never had issues with bristles falling out.  I take good care of my brushes and my oldest Trish brush is over 14 years old and work as well as the new ones I bought a week ago.

For a limited time, Trish McEvoy has this Power of Tools Brush Collection available in this pretty red quilted roll for $245.   These are full-sized brushes, and you get 10 of them, which come to an average of $24.50 a brush.  Yes, I know you know math – but $245 for a set of professional brushes that you will actually use is a great value.   And for the holiday weekend, there is free shipping through 9/5/11  11:59 EST and a deluxe size of Lash Enhancer Nighttime Conditioning Treatment.

Lady Gaga Shares Her Beauty Secrets

March 23rd, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

From her outrageous outfits to over-the-top makeup and hair, normal isn’t exactly the right word to describe Lady Gaga. Now in the latest issue of People, the pop sensation spills some of her quirky and rather disturbing beauty secrets.

“Gaga, who calls her mother Cynthia Germanotta and Princess Diana her beauty influences, says her mom taught her to wash her face with Ivory soap. When asked how many nights per week she goes to bed wearing makeup, she replies, “Seven. That is not good for your skin, but I’m blessed with good genes.”

What is good for her skin? The sunblock she carries around in her beauty bag. “I don’t like to tan my face because it’s bad for wrinkles,” she explains.

The natural brunette, known for her now white-blonde locks, says she misses her dark hair when she has to “get a chemical haircut because my blonde hair is falling out.” And that’s not the only damage fame has done: she admits that she’s dying for a foot massage, to relieve her achy feet after all those days spent walking in sky-high heels.

But Gaga – whose favorite fragrances growing up were Versace Baby Rose Jeans and Revlon’s Jean Naté – says that above all, the best beauty tip is to be yourself. “Just go with your gut,” she urges. “Whenever you try to be someone else, it’s boring.””

Perhaps that’s why she’s skipping mascara and fake lashes these days. “I think it’s more modern not to wear [either]. I just wear eyeliner.”

While I definitely do NOT think anyone should sleep with makeup on, I am totally with Gaga on the importance of sunblock and her be-yourself attitude. I wear sunblock with SPF 30 all year round (click here for my favorite) and tanning beds don’t even exist in my dictionary. Plus makeup is meant to be fun so if you like that blue lipstick or crazy fake lashes, WEAR IT AND OWN IT! With makeup, you can always take it off at the end of the day!

So what do you guys think? What are some of YOUR beauty secrets?
