Face
“I prepped Selena’s skin by applying mark For Goodness Face Antioxidant Skin Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 to create a clean canvas. Then, I used the mark Foundation Brush to apply mark Primed for Perfection Face Primer all over her face.”

Eyes
“I started with Selena’s eyes because it’s easier to clean up the fallen eye shadow before applying foundation. To begin, I applied mark Please Hold Eye Primer in Light to Medium all over her lids. Next, using the mark Eye Shadow Brush, I added mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eye Shadow in Plum Velvet to Selena’s outer lids and creases. To create a dramatic look, I used a blending brush to smudge the shadow into the edges of her eyes. I added mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eye Shadow in Corset to her top and bottom lash-lines using the mark Eyeliner Brush. To make her eyes really pop, I rimmed Selena’s eyes with mark No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Jet Set. I finished her eyes with two coats of mark Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash.”

Face
“First, I used mark Make It Go Away Wipes to remove the fallen eye shadow from Selena’s face. Once her face was clean, I applied mark Min-A-Real Cream-To-Powder Foundation with Mineral Pigments in Honey using the mark Foundation Brush. I then used mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium under Selena’s eyes and around her nose to create a flawless look.”

Cheeks
“I started off by applying mark Just Pinched in Cheeky to the apples of Selena’s cheeks. Then, I dusted on mark Matte-nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Honey/Golden with the mark Powder Brush to set the look. I added mark Bronze-Pro Bronzing Power in Pro Golden using the using the mark Foundation Brush to create a luminous glow. Next, I layered on mark Good Glowing Mosaic Blush Custom Color Palette in Chica to the apple of Selena’s cheeks using the mark Blush + Bronzer Brush.”

Lips
“For Selena’s lips, I layered mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Sweetie Pie and mark Pro Gloss Hook Up Plumping Lip Shine in Swell for a gorgeous pout.”

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

When one of my makeup buddies raved and raved about Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15, I decided to find out what it was all about.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15
The Skin Foundation comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a pump. It contains light-reflective optics to blur away flaws and a blend of Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate to attract moisture to skin and lock it in. It also offers broad spectrum UV protection with SPF 15.

There are 17 shades available to cover a wide range of skintones. For my NC30 skin, I use 4.25 Natural Tan, which is a yelllow-based shade a tad darker than my natural skintone.

Compared to most liquid foundations, the texture of this foundation is runnier and thinner, kind of like RMK Liquid Foundation. It spreads easily and applies smoothly, leaving behind a soft, satiny finish.

Coverage-wise, it is light to medium. It evens out my skin beautifully and gives it a radiant, dewy look without ever looking or feeling fake. The foundation does, however, have a tendency to dry quickly so you got to be quick in blending it. I like to squeeze one pump on the back of my hand then apply in a patting motion on half of my face before working on the other half.

Another thing I love about this is the longevity. The foundation wears extremely well with zero fading or shine, even without a setting powder on top.

Highly recommended for young skin or if you are looking for a light-weight, natural-looking foundation with light to medium coverage.

Overall Rating:

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 is available at Sephora, Nordstrom and www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com for $45.

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

With a long line of celebrity fans like Reese Witherspoon, Paris Hilton and Jennifer Hudson, Per-fekt Skin Perfection Gel is a multi-tasking product that claims to be an alternative to traditional foundation, primer, color corrector and powder. It can be used alone or after moisturizer to help even out skintone, moisturize, reduce redness, hide pores and smooth out wrinkles. Sounds a lot like the Asian cult product BB Creams doesn’t it?

The Skin Perfection Gel comes in a cute 30ml bottle with an airless pump. All you have to do press and it will dispense a small amount of product so nothing goes to waste. I normally use 2 pumps for the whole face.

Active ingredients include Isododecane, Polysilicone – 11, Dimethicone, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Montmorillonite, Thioctic Acid, Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77499, CI 77492, CI 77491, Alpha Lipoic Acids, Vitamins A & E. It is also oil, parabens, talc and fragrance-free.

There are 4 shades to match different skintones – Luminous, Radiant, Rich, Decadent – along with Translucent, which goes on clear. I have Radiant, a warm medium shade that is much darker than my NC30 skin.

The gel-mousse formula goes on super lightweight and not the slightest greasy. The finish is smooth and velvety, just like a silicone-based primer.

The coverage is minimal and does not do anything for undereye circles, freckles and redness at all. It does however, make my pores appear smaller and my face plumper. My foundation and concealer also seemed to apply much smoother and last longer when I use this.

Unless you have flawless skin, I would recommend saving this as a primer or mixing it with your regular foundation for more slip. For this reason, the $57.50 price tag is way too high. You can definitely get similar results with cheaper products.

Dior Skinflash Primer

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Using primers under our makeup helps to smooth out any imperfections, makes pores disappear and can make your skin look flawless. They also give the extra benefit of not only allowing your foundation to go on more smoothly and thus using less foundation, they also allow your makeup stay in place longer. Primers are also great for women over 40 as they sometimes fill in fine lines and pores.

I always seem to be on the quest for the perfect primer. I love my Dior Crystal Nude Natural Matte Skin Perfector. It’s convenient to use, makes my skin smooth and I especially like it for touch-ups during the day.

But, for my morning routine I have to say I like this Dior SkinFlash Primer better. Why? Several reasons. The applicator is easy with this built-in brush (the tube is much wider than the highlighter pens), this is a creamy-peach color that melds into the skin flawlessly and without color. It doesn’t feel thick like some primers. There is a slight bit of shimmer in this primer, which I hesitate to use the word “shimmer” It’s more of a glow in a tube. It doesn’t leave you all shiny and slick, but instead smooth and glowing and your skin just looks more youthful.

On weekends when I don’t feel like putting any make up but maybe need to look a little more polished, I just swipe this on without putting on foundation. It calms and soothes my complexion as well as giving it that glow. Mornings Skinflash Primer, afternoons Crystal Nude Skin Perfector for touch-ups.

This is available exclusively at Sephora and Dior.com

In the last few years more and more companies have been combining the benefits of skin care with the beauty of makeup – all to our advantage. First we heard of adding SPF to foundation and now foundations seem to be working more like skincare products such as moisturizers and serums.

Elizabeth Arden has a new such foundation called Ceramide Ultra Lift and Firm Makeup with SPF 15 - a winner all around. The benefits of their popular Ceramide skincare with a medium to full coverage foundation that is moisturizing and soothing. I’ve been using this foundation for a few weeks and it quickly became one of my daily go-to foundations. It goes on soft and smoothly, makes my pores nearly disappear, and my skin is moisturized but not oily looking and it lasts all day. I found this applies seamlessly with a foundation brush.

Great coverage, flawless looking skin, skincare benefits and my skin looks like the skin we all aim for. Need I say more?
