Giorgio Armani Spring 2011 Collection: Transluminence

Giorgio Armani introduces colours of nature, awakened by the morning light.

Light and nature are two major themes that have infused Giorgio Armani’s aesthetic and vision of makeup since its creation.

The Armani makeup collection for spring 2011 plays with transparency to ignite a woman’s face. Bright colours that allow infinite layering and blending create a new landscape of tones. There is a new smoky look for the eyes produced with radiant colours. From soft to dramatic, the look seen at the Armani spring/summer 2011 fashion show was a fresh interpretation of “La Femme Bleue”.

This season the must-have look utilises a perfect harmony of diaphanous forest green and purple iris on eyes, contrasted with frozen pink light on skin and lips. The inspiration: fresh morning dew on a wild bunch of flowers.

Makeup artist Linda Cantello, who worked on the Armani spring/summer 2011 fashion show, says: “Imagine the richest purple and the deepest green both enlivened by a frozen silver. A soft black completes the palette, to be worn alone as liner or to add depth to smoky eyes. Freshened by the softest baby lips, a beautiful frosty blush completes this new way of facing spring in the depths of winter.”

Transluminence Eye Palette ($58.00)

Blend and layer the four full, rich, colour-intense translucent tones. Apply rich purple iris with an eye brush to the eyelid and add dewy forest green. These will fuse together into a vibrant blue turquoise. Render the effect even more luminous with a layer of frozen silver. Open up the eye with a touch of silver on the inside corner. Outline the under eye or the eyelid with soft black eye colour, applied wet or dry.

Transluminence Face Palette ($49.00)

Sculpt the face with frost bitten Sheer Translucent Blush presented in the spring signature face palette.

Rouge d’Armani ($30.00)

  • Dawn Pink (518)
  • Early Morning Rose (508)
  • Petal Pink (503)

November 19th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Tom Pecheux returned to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2010 as the lead makeup artist and created a “California Girl meets French Kiss” look on the models this year. The skin was evened out with liquid foundation before bronzer was heavily buffed across the cheekbones and on the outer sides of the bridge of the nose for a sun-kissed look. The same shade of taupe contoured the cheeks and creases of the eyes, whereas white eyeliner and gold eyeshadow made the waterline and inner corner of the eyes pop. The eyelashes …

Aimee’s Halloween look

AIMEE is a beauty blogger who is just learning about the novelties of makeup. You can check out her blog here!

INSPIRATION: I just created something I could hang out with. It’s supposed to a gothic angel look but what can you do, sometimes the creation takes over and becomes something you didn’t expect.

  • EYES: MAC Naked Pigment, MAC Black Black Pigment, MAC Dark Soul Pigment, Laura Gellar Eyeliner, Urban Decay Rocks, and MAC #42 Lash.
  • LIPS: NARS Cruella Lip Pencil, Givenchy Vintage Garnet.

MICHAELA loves cosmetics, and she is from Austria. She creates German videos on YouTube.

INSPIRATION: Taylor Momsen

  • BREAKDOWN: First of all I primed my face with MAC prep and prime, then I primed my eyelids with UDPP. I took a white eyeshadow from the 120 palette and applied it all over my face. For my eyes I used MAC cranberry (form and color inspired by some Taylor Momsen pictures). I just blend it with the same white eyeshadow as I used on my face. Then I’ve made my eyeliner with MAC blacktrack and put on some fals lashes. I filled in my brows with a eyeliner by MAC called engraved. For my cheeks I used some red blush and tried to made a angled type of form on both sides. For my lips – I primed with MAC prep and prime for lips and then applied some dark purple eyeliner as a base. Afterwards I used a dark brown lipstick. I wanted to use a black lipstick, but don’t wanted to buy one, so this combination made me happy.

Claudia’s Halloween look

CLAUDIA is a diverse person with an all-over-the-place background that shows through her makeup and clothing choices.

INSPIRATION: The 80s in general. At first it was going to be leggings/leg warmers/crimped hair but I was leaning more towards the rocker 80s by the end and decided on harem pants/leather jacket/rocker hair. I got a lot of JEM comparisons from people, so we can settle on that!

  • EYES: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay Graffiti Eyeshadow, Urban Decay Fishnet Eyeshadow, Urban Decay Peace Eyeshadow, MAC Sweet & Punchy Eyeshadow, MAC Going Bananas Eyeshadow, MAC Feline Kohl Power, Wet ‘n’ Wild White Eye Kohl.
  • LIPS: MAC Pink Nouveau Lipstick, MAC Flurry of Fun Lipglass.

Jimena’s Halloween look

JIMENA is 19 years old and from Mexico. She loves Halloween as a time to express her alter ego! You can find her on YouTube.

INSPIRATION: For this look I was not aiming for a particular character but mainly I was inspired in a goth style.

  • EYES: Wet ‘n’ Wild White Kohl, MAC Carbon Eyeshadow, ELF White Eyeshadow, Make Up For Ever #92 Eyeshadow, Too Faced Lilac Eyeshadow, MAC Stars ‘n Rockets Eyeshadow, Bissu octet #4, Bliss #74 Lashes.

FOTD: Good-Girl-Gone-Bad Creative Makeup Photoshoot

October 9th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Here are the pictures of the creative photoshoot I did with makeup artist Anita and photographer Jerry during my short trip to Hong Kong. We decided to play on a good-girl-gone-bad motif so we started with an innocent look with lots of pinks on the cheeks and lips, soft smoky eyes and big, big hair. Next, Anita added darker colors on one side of my face and a black veil to portray the gradual change. Finally, the full-blown evil look with heavily contoured cheeks, dark eyes, dramatic lips and pinned-up hair. This is …
