Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color for Fall 2011

August 27th, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color for Fall 2011

Inspired by Dick Page’s photography and travels around the globe, the NEW Shiseido Makeup Shimmering Cream Eye Color glides over eyelids creating a luxurious and deeply pigmented look in an instant. There is no need to apply an eye shadow base or powder shadow on top as the Shimmering Cream Eye Color delivers strong color definition with maximum performance as well as unprecedented luster and lasting brilliance.

These lightweight, long-wearing cream shadows maintain a smudge-free and dewy finish that won’t crease or fade for up to 16 hours. Each shade can be worn separately or blended together for a variety of looks and effects.

With light-capturing power to outshine jewels, these shadows are smooth, blendable and remain stunning all day long using a combination of unique technologies including:

  • Jewel Reflecting Powder – a shimmering powder that reflects different colors from every angle, emitting an intense radiance.
  • Smooth Fit Base – uses Shiseido’s exclusive patent-pending emulsification technology to quickly remove excess oil and water after application, leaving only the essential reflective pearl and moisturizing ingredients behind on lids. This exceptional adhering quality is what gives the shadow its strong resistance to creasing and fading.
  • Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE – a Shiseido-original ingredient that moisturizes and improves dryness to give eyes a fresh look all day long.

Makeup Tutorial: How To Recreate Emma Watson’s Dramatic Gold and Black Cat Eye

August 22nd, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At the ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2′ New York Premiere last month, Emma Watson paired her slicked-back pixie cut with a defined gold and black cat eye and nude lips. I loved how powerful the look is and those golden foil on the outer corners are such a nice accent! Read on to see my step-by-step tutorial on how to recreate this gorgeous eye makeup.

Step 1. Prep the eyelid with a primer to ensure more vibrant and longer-lasting color.

What I Used: NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base

Step 2. Apply a golden yellow eyeshadow onto the inner corner of the eye. Wet the brush for more intensity.

What I Used: MAC Golden Lemon Pigment

Step 3. Pat a metallic charcoal eyeshadow onto the remaining eyelid.

What I Used: MAC Knight Divine Eyeshadow

Step 4. Sweep a black eyeshadow onto the crease. Drag it past the outer corner for a cat-eye shape. To copy Emma’s look down to a T, drag the color from the inner corner towards your brow as well.

For the perfect cat-eye shape, hold a Kleenex or apply medical tape under the eye before you apply the color. Alternatively, clean up the line with a foundation brush or sponge dipped in foundation.

What I Used: NARS Pandora Duo Eyeshadow

Step 5. Apply the golden yellow and charcoal shadows on the lower eyelid.

What I Used: MAC Golden Lemon Pigment and NARS Pandora Duo Eyeshadow

Step 5. Run a black pencil eyeliner along both upper and lower lashlines.

What I Used: NARS Via Veneto Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner

Step 6. Go over the line with a black liquid liner to add drama and staying power.

What I Used: Jealousness WaterProof Eyeliner in Smoked Black BK-II

Step 7. Apply tiny pieces of gold foil on the outer corner of the eye. Don’t have any handy? Dab some of the golden yellow eyeshadow with a damp brush instead.

What I Used: MAC Golden Lemon Pigment

Step 8. Coat your lashes with black mascara. Add fake lashes as desired.

What I Used: CoverGirl Natureluxe Mousse Mascara in Very Black and Jealousness Fake Lashes in Bewitched JS-507

Done!

Extra Tips On Nailing The Look
* When working with very dark colors on the eyes, do your foundation and concealer last to avoid a massive cleanup.

* To prevent colors from turning muddy, always start with the lighter colors before moving to the darker ones.

* Since this is very defined, strong look, do not worry too much about the blending. Just make sure you keep the undereye area as clean as possible.

NUXE Crème Prodigieuse Eye Cream and Day Cream Reviews

August 22nd, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Coveted by top models and celebs all over the world, the famous NUXE Multi-Usage Prodigieuse Dry Oil has been transformed into a new face care line, Crème Prodigieuse, and will hit the shelves this fall!

NUXE Crème Prodigieuse
The new line consists of four daily anti-fatigue moisturizing creams – an eye cream, two day creams and a night cream – for women of all ages. All products contain at least 89.3% of ingredients of natural origin and are formulated without parabens. For my dehydrated combo skin, I was sent Contour des Yeux Prodigieux and Crème Prodigieuse – Normal to Combination Skin to try out.

The Contour des Yeux Prodigieux is a fluid eye cream that promises to smooth away signs of stress and fatigue from around the eyes by re-energizing the skin and combating the appearance of visible signs of aging, helping protect the skin from the effects of oxidative stress caused by daily environmental assaults. Ingredients include:

• Blue Everlasting, a flower that resists stress and possesses anti-free radical and anti-oxidant properties superior to those of vitamins C and E. It helps to protect the skin from external assaults and thus generating fewer free radicals for radiance and youthful appearance.
• Blue Agerate, a flower that is rich in polyphenols and flavonoids to help reduce the appearance of inflammation caused by free radicals. It also protects the skin from internal factors of oxidative stress so it becomes less reactive and retains its full radiance.
• Cocoa Extract to help delay epidermal cell aging by reducing the number of senescent cells by 50%. It also helps to offset the cellular deficit by increasing the capital of new cells ready to replace attacked cells. Skin is protected from the appearance of visible signs of premature aging, a major consequence of oxidative stress.
• Hyaluronic Acid to moisturize and smoothe fine lines caused by dehydration in the eye.
contour area.
• Plant caffeine extracted from green coffee beans for drainage-enhancing and clearing properties to diminish the look of dark circles and reduce undereye puffiness.

The texture is really light and sinks into the skin quickly. Right away, my eye area feels hydrated and so refreshed. The eye cream also works great under makeup without causing my foundation/concealer to ball up. I have yet to see a difference in my undereye circles but I definitely noticed a reduction in puffiness.

The Crème Prodigieuse, on the other hand, is a moisturizing day cream. Again it contains the main ingredients of the Crème Prodigieuse line – Blue Everlasting, Blue Agerate and Cocoa Extract -, along with mattifying mineral powders to modulate the light, soften the appearance of prominent zones and skin imperfections and mattify the complexion.

The texture is a little thicker than the eye cream but gets absorbed equally as fast and painless. It does a good job moisturizing my skin and leaves behind a velvety finish, which makes a great makeup base as well.

My only complaint would be the lack of SPF. Having to apply a separate sunscreen just seems a bit too much work since I’m always in a rush in the mornings. For that reason, I save this for the PM.

Bottom line, Crème Prodigieuse is a great basic skincare line that has kept my dehydrated combo skin supple and happy. Not to mention, the signature Prodigieuse Dry Oil scent is just HEAVENLY and so soothing! I definitely recommend the Crème Prodigieuse line for those with younger skin or do not need a lot of “correction”.

Overall Rating:

Contour des Yeux Prodigieux and Crème Prodigieuse – Normal to Combination Skin will be available at Beauty.com and SpaceNK for $35 and $28 in September.
