First, Jake prepped Jenna’s skin with Sjal Cellular Renewal Cream before applying Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. Then, he lined her eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and applied Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte, which he also used to fill in her brows. Next, he coated Jenna’s lashes with Avon Mega Effects Mascara and swiped mark Chic Frills Powder Blush on the apples of her cheeks. To complete the look, Jake applied Avon Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick in Creamy Melon on the lips and added Chanel Jardin De Camelias Illuminating Powder on the cheekbones for a glow.

Hair
“The Oscars are a great time for my clients to get glammed. Jenna’s dress had so much detail and texture that I wanted to make sure to show off the collar and neckline. With the dress being so pretty, I wanted the hair to stay off her face, but to still have soft movement. I wanted her hair to look breeze blown, but still keep it up and off the dress.” explained Jen, representing CLEAR Scalp & Hair.

To get this look at home, start by washing hair with Clear Scalp & Hair’s Strong Lengths Shampoo and Conditioner. After washing, rough dry hair with hands and smooth out the ends with a brush. Next, set your part then flat iron hair, from mid-lengths to ends. Pull hair into a ponytail and let pieces fall as they may. Tease the ponytail for fullness and pin into a bun. Use a brush to lightly tease at the crown for soft flyaways and finish with hairspray.

Celebrity Makeup Breakdown: Lucy Hale at 2013 Country Music Awards

November 8th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At the Country Music Awards, mark Celebrity Brand Ambassador Lucy Hale spotted a fresh look with defined eyes and peachy pink lips created by makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan

Lucy Hale makeup at 2013 Country Music Awards
“Lucy is wearing a gorgeous pastel flowy dress and we knew her makeup had to be glamorous and standout, but not overpower the sweetness of her overall look. We decided on a fresh look focusing on her eyes and drew shadow inspiration from the colors of her dress.”

Face & Cheeks
“I began by prepping her skin with Nourish moisturizer by Lancer Skincare. This product soaks into the skin leaving it hydrated throughout the night allowing the makeup continually look even and fresh. For Lucy’s skin, I mixed Armani Lminous Silk Foundation in 5 and 5.5 and applied it with a fluffy brush working from the center of her face outward. For any areas that needed extra coverage and to brighten under the eyes, I used Cle de Peau concealer in Ivory.

Next I applied mark Just Blushing Powder Blush in Cameo to create a deep contour and topped off the cheeks with the pinks of the mark Wonder Glow Blush & Glow All Over Face Palette. I swept it high across Lucy’s cheekbones allowing the subtle shimmer to illuminate her skin.”

Eyes
“To make Lucy’s eyes pop, I used the mark 10 Year Anniversary Eye Shadow Palette in the left two colors (the M and A) all over her lid. I lined the top and bottom with both mark No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Jet Set and Foxy Brown. For the inner corners of her eyes, I used the white shade (on the far right) of the mark 10 Year Anniversary Eye Shadow Palette. The brightness in the corners or her eyes allows the shadow to catch the light and reflect it and makes Lucy’s eyes appear larger. I finished her eyes with two generous coats of mark Scanda-Lash mascara in Blackest Black.”

Lips
“To finish Lucy’s look, I applied mark Make It Rich Lip Crayon in Naturally. This sweet peachy pink allows the focus to be on her eyes, but also compliments her dress and her overall look.”

Get Emmy Rossum’s Makeup and Nail Look At 2013 Met Gala!

May 7th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Emmy Rossum ditched her signature dewy look for a bolder, glam punk look at the 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Annual Costume Institute Gala last night. “Emmy’s look was a mixture of beautiful femininity and rock ‘n’ roll edginess with her romantic gown and bold eye makeup,” said her makeup artist Jo Baker.

Complexion
To create a dewy look with medium coverage, Baker started with NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Nude. She paired the liquid foundation with NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation in Creamy Natural to bring out Emmy’s beautiful skin and natural complexion. Baker then applied the NYX Green Tea Blotting Papers to ensure the durability of Emmy’s makeup.

Cheeks
To create the perfect sculpted cheek, Baker swept NYX Highlight & Contour Powder on the sides of Emmy’s cheekbones and down her nose. To add a healthy glow to Emmy’s skin, Baker then blended the contouring powder with NYX Powder Blush in Natural on the apples of Emmy’s cheeks up to her hairline. She then applied NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam along Emmy’s collarbone and shoulders for a shimmery highlighter that would reflect perfectly off the bright lights of the Met Ball cameras.

Eyes
To create a strong canvas for Emmy’s dramatic eye makeup, Baker started with NYX Eye Shadow Base in White. Baker then applied NYX Cream Shadow in Chocolate to create the overall shape and dimension of the eye and eyebrow. She added extra definition by pressing the NYX Roll On Eye Shimmer in Onyx with her finger onto the outside of the eyes and then blending with a flat brush. She then softened the shimmer of the shadows with NYX Nude Matte Shadow in Tryst to make the smoky eye makeup look more sophisticated and wearable. NYX Kohl Kajal Black Liner was used to create a winged liner that extended to the outside of Emmy’s eyes and blended up to the eyebrows. To complete the look, Baker applied NYX Propel My Eyes Mascara heavily on her top lashes.

Lips
Keeping the focus on Emmy’s strong eyes and brows, Baker finished her look with a soft peach lip color using NYX Round Lipstick in Fortune Cookie.

Nails
Inspired by her gorgeous Donna Karan Atelier gown dress, Katie Hughes, butter LONDON Global Colour Ambassador, created elegant yet edgy nail art for Emmy using extra pieces of lace – the same fabric from which her dress was created – supplied by Donna Karan. The designer also supplied Emmy with individual crystals, also used on her dress, to help enhance her nail look, adding a bit of punk rocker edge. “Emmy knew she really wanted to incorporate the fabric from the dress somehow, but with a twist that gave it an unexpected edge,” said Katie. “Together we decided to use both the fabric and the stones to create a nail that was both delicate and edgy. It looked awesome.”

How To
Katie began by painting Emmy’s nails with two coats of butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Yummy Mummy followed by a layer of butter LONDON P.D. Quick Top Coat. She then cut individual pieces of lace to perfectly cover Emmy’s nails and placed them down on the wet nails, letting the lace dry on top of the nail. Once the nails were dry, Katie placed glue on random spots of the nail where the crystals would be adhered, and then placed each crystal onto the nail.
