Smoky Eye: Brown

1. Apply Eye Shadow #7 White over the entire surface of the eyelid and brow bone.

Summer Makeup with Chanel

You can’t review new products without actually testing them, right? Here’s a look I put together to test out some of the products from Chanel’s summer collection! Reviews/swatches to come :)

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, Chanel Lilium Eyeshadow Quad (beige, chartreuse, blackened green, mauve-taupe), Make Up For Ever #17L Aqua Eyes (chartreuse), Hourglass Film Noir Mascara (black)
  • Face: Ellis Faas SkinVeil (S104), Guerlain Les Violettes Mineral Powder (03)
  • Cheeks: Chanel Bronze Corail Soleil Tan de Chanel (bronze with coral)
  • Lips: Chanel Sari Dore Rouge Coco Lipstick (coral orange), Chanel Pensee Glossimer (sheer coral)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 184 (fan brush)

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye with the 249. Apply the chartreuse eyeshadow to the lower half of the lid from inner to outer with the 239, just patting it on. Next, apply the mauve-taupe eyeshadow above the crease with the 222, blending outwards. With the 239, apply the blackened green eyeshadow into the crease with the 239, blending slightly downwards to cover the remaining portion of the lid and softening with the chartreuse eyeshadow. Highlight the brow bone with the beige eyeshadow with the 217. Apply 17L liner on the lower water line, and then smudge the blackened green eyeshadow against the lower lash line with the edge of the 239. Finish by sweeping lashes with Film Noir mascara.

For cheeks, apply Bronze Corail bronzer on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Sari Dore lipstick first, then top with Pensee glossimer for a complementing lip.

Valentine’s Day Makeup with MAC Wonder Woman Defiance

January 29th, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

MAC Wonder Woman Look: Defiance

Just because it can be made to work… doesn’t mean it is worth buying. I really had to pack on the color to get it to show, and there was some issues with blending, because the shades were so stiff. I maintain my recommendation of “no buy” to the fullest!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), MAC Defiance Eyeshadow (pale frosted pink), MAC Paradise Island Eyeshadow (petal pink), MAC Star Studded Eyeshadow (plummed pink), MAC Real Drama Eyeshadow (burgundy brown), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow, Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Liner (copper), MAC Victorious Opulash Mascara (purple)
  • Face: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (Punjab), Burberry Pressed Powder (03)
  • Cheeks: MAC Mighty Aphrodite Blush (pink)
  • Lips: MAC Spitfire Lipstick (pink-nude), MAC Wonder Woman Lipglass (peach-pink)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 263 (angled eyeliner brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Defiance = Vanilla pigment; Paradise Island – Pen ‘n’ Pink; Star Studded = Fig. 1; Real Drama = Sketch; Mighty Aphrodite = Deep Throat; Spitfire = Up the Amp + Girl About Town; Wonder Woman = Russian Red

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Paradise Island eyeshadow on the inner half of the lower lid. Lightly blend Star Studded eyeshadow onto the outer third of the lid and crease with the 222. Apply Defiance eyeshadow on the inner tear duct and crease with the 239. Blend Trench eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Perversion on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Victorious Opulash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Mighty Aphrodite blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Spitfire lipstick first, then layer Wonder Woman lipglass for a complementing lip.

Fall Makeup: Go Red with Neutrals

August 30th, 2010

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Fall Makeup: Go Red with Neutrals

When it comes to some of the darker shades of fall lip colors, pairing them with a neutral eye is always an easy way to make them work for you without overwhelming your face. This is the kind of look where I challenge myself: “How many products that I need to review can I fit on my face for one look?” It’s the epitome of multi-tasking, right? Hey, at least it’s not my usual where I have half my face done in certain products… and the other half with something else.

All new products used will be reviewed on the blog – I’ll give you my take at that time :)

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), Guerlain Rue des Francs Bourgeois Eyeshadow Palette, Bobbi Brown Chocolate Brown Eyeliner (dark brown), Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara (black)
  • Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation (03), Guerlain Les Voilettes Mineral Powder (03)
  • Cheeks: Rock & Republic Call Me Blush (pinky coral)
  • Lips: Guerlain Gwen Rouge G Lipstick (deep red), Guerlain Violine (462) Kiss Kiss Gloss Serum (burgundy red)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply the bottom left shade of the palette on the inner third of the lid and pull upwards along the inner crease. Lightly blend the upper left shade of the palette on the middle of the lid with the 239. Next, apply the bottom middle shade of the palette onto the outer lid with the 239. Define the crease with the upper middle shade of the palette with the 226. Blend the upper left shade of the palette with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Chocolate Brown eyeliner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.

For cheeks, apply Call Me blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Gwen lipstick first, and then layer Violine lipgloss for a complementing lip.
