Runway Beauty: Gold + Silver Cat Eye at Chanel Fall 2014 Couture

July 12th, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At Chanel Fall 2014 Couture Show, models rocked spiky punk hairdos and minimal makeup that consisted of a winged eyeliner with a pop of gold and silver and nude lips. “It’s like modern sculpture, in modern materials, but with baroque elements,” Karl Lagerfeld said backstage. “This is the story of Le Corbusier going to Versailles.”

Get Keira Knightley’s Smoky Eye Makeup At Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Premium!

January 19th, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

I have always loved British Keira Knightley for her sultry makeup looks and sexy accent. And at the Los Angeles Premiere of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee gave her a gorgeous blue smoky eye and nude lips to go with her Chanel dress.

“Keira wore a navy Chanel knitted dress with white details. I wanted to keep her looking more of the moment, and so we went for a navy creamy smudged eye,” explained Kate.

Kate started out by prepping the skin with Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème Riche and Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to give a nice uniformed glow.

On the eyes, Kate first lined the inside of the eye, upper and lower lash line with Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in Marine, then worked along the lash line above and below them gently blended the lines. Next, she reached for Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Apparition, a beautiful shimmering navy to melt away the lines and give a soft effect. Then, she curled the lashes and gave them one coat of Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On the cheeks, Kate used a nude blush, Le Blush Crème de Chanel in Cheeky (available May 2014).

To finish, Kate used Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Mademoiselle for a natural blushing lip.

Celebrity Makeup Breakdown: Camilla Belle at 2013 LACMA Art + Film Gala

November 7th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

The gorgeous Camilla Belle looked chic as ever spotting some new bangs and plum lipstick at the 2013 LACMA Art + Film Gala. Keep reading to see how Celebrity Makeup Artist Kinzee Kubek created the look!

how to get Camilla Belle's makeup look at 2013 LACMA Art + Film Gala
“Skin, is so important! You always want to start with a clean, blank canvas, that’s well hydrated. Not only does it bring the skin to life, but it also helps maintain the integrity of the makeup. So before I applied any color, I first moisturized Camilla’s skin with a light veil of Dr. Perricone Advanced Face Firming Activator. First I applied Laura Mercier Concealer to the under eye, in the color SC-1. Then, with a foundation brush, I built up an even base of Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, in the color, 5.75. After applying both the concealer and foundation, with a wet beauty blender sponge, I went back and gently blended the makeup so that there was a seamless even finish.

For eyes, I applied a light layer of Marc Jacobs eyeshadow (a light color), from the Style Eye-Con #7 Plush Shadow Palette. A sleek, slightly winged out liquid liner, finished the eye. For that I used Chanel, Ecriture de Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Black. To give Camilla a slight definition to her naturally beautiful bone structure, I applied Kevin Aucoin sculpting powder, to subtly contour her cheekbones. On the apples of the cheeks, I applied Chanel Powder Blush in the color 68 Rose Ecrin. For her lip color, I chose a new lipstick from the Fall 2013 NARS collection, which is a matte lipstick, in the color La Paz.

Finishing off with final touches, I applied two layers of Armani Eyes To Kill mascara, in black. Then on the face, just a few dots of Smashbox photo op to highlight her where the light catches. This was applied to the top of her cheekbones. And last but not least, the powder I chose to use was from Make Up For Ever, called HD powder (make sure to thoroughly blend this powder, or it’ll show up on camera). And voila! That’s the look.”

Get Kristen Stewart’s Makeup Look at 2013 Met Gala!

May 7th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Matching your eyeshadow to your outfit can be a do when done correctly. Case in point? The gorgeous burgundy eye makeup Kristen Stewart wore at the 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Annual Costume Institute Gala. “I wanted to create a dark punk shape to the eye, but give it some edgy elegance by working in reds, burgundies and blacks. The look came together beautifully with the deep burgundy jumpsuit Kristen wore.” said makeup artist Beau Nelson.

Complexion
“To get her look, I started by massaging Chanel Sublimage La Crème Texture Fine into the face and gently patting Sublimage La Creme Yeux under the eyes for hydration. I applied Chanel Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup SPF 15 in 22 Beige Rose to the center of the face working outwards in small circular motions, buffing the product into the skin. Then used a concealer where needed to cover redness and brighten the under eye area. I contoured the face with Chanel Powder Blush in Plum Attraction under the cheekbones and used Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Baume on the tops of cheekbones for radiant dewy shine.

Eyes
“On her eyes I used Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Framboise as a creme shadow to define the shape and create a strong red base to apply the shadow to. I then used a mix of Chanel Powder Blush in Pink Explosion, the burgundy shadows from Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Eclosion and the grey shadow from Chanel Eyeshadow Duo in Misty-Soft to smoke up the eye, then lined the inner rim with a black pencil. On the brows, I used Chanel Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Naturel. I curled the lashes and applied Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir to both top and bottom.

Lips
“On the lips I used Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Colour Lipshine in Ingénue (available June 2013) and Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Attirance.”
