Make Up For Ever Neutral 12 Flash Color Case Review, Swatches and Photos

October 20th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

During my trip to New York for Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Week, I was finally able to pick up the new version of Make Up For Ever Classic 12 Flash Color Case, a gorgeous compact with 12 wearable shades of neutrals geared towards professional makeup artists.

Make Up For Ever 12 Flash Color Case

Like the original Flash Color Case, this comes in a clear case. The colors are more muted and while they might not be as versatile as the primary colors you get in the original, I personally love them more (those lip shades are just to die for!) Again, certain colors are not recommended on the eye or lip areas. For instance, Kaki and most of the pink shades are not meant to be applied close to the eyes, whereas the darker colors are not meant for the lips.

* Grey 029 is a muted bluish gray.
* Neutral Brown 039 is a medium brown.
* Purple Grey 037 is a muted purple.
* Rosewood 032 is a medium warm brown with pink undertones.
* Dark Antique Pink 033 is a light neutral pink.
* Ivory 030 is a pale ivory.
* Livid 016 is a very light green with gray undertones.
* Kaki 028 is a dark khaki green.
* Pink Brown 034 is a rose with brown undertones.
* Fresh Pink 031 is a bright pink.
* Sienna 035 is a nude with brown undertones.
* Rusty Brown 036 is a warm red with brown undertones.

The colors applied with a creamy texture and excellent color payoff. I love using the pinks and nudes as lip colors and blushes, while the remaining colors are great as a wash of color on the lid. Will post a look using this next week!

Overall Rating:

Make Up For Ever Neutral 12 Flash Color Case is available at Make Up For Ever Boutiques for $99.

2013 Golden Globes Red Carpet Beauty: Sofia Vergara

January 16th, 2013

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

CoverGirl spokesperson Sofia Vergara rocked her signature brown smoky eye with a brick red lip at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards last night. Read on for details on how celebrity makeup artist Kayleen McAdams created the look!

Get Sofia Vergara's makeup at 2013 Golden Globes Awards
“I wanted to do a brick red lip on Sofia – something a little deeper and more interesting than a classic red lip. Old Hollywood glamour is a trend for awards season, so Sofia and I did our own twist on the look!” said Kayleen.

Face
“I started by applying Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Classic Tan (#860) all over and set it with COVERGIRL + Olay Pressed Powder in Medium. Then, I applied a light dusting of Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Brown Bronze and Cheekers Blush in Sierra Sands, a warm blush, on the apples of the cheeks.”

Eyes
“I wanted to give the eye a wash of shadow, so I used only one shade, Eye Enhancers 1-Kit in Brown Smolder, and softly blended it over the entire lid. I applied LiqulineBlast Liner in Brown Blaze along the bottom lash line and extended it past the lash line to give a slight wing. I finished off the look with three coats of Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara on top to really emphasize the lashes, followed by one coat on the bottom.”

Lips
“On the lips, I applied Queen Collection Lipcolor in Into the Red straight from the tube, blotted and added another coat to make it last all night. I gave Sofia the lipstick to keep in her clutch so she could touch herself up throughout the night.”

Runway Beauty: Luxe By Lisa Vogel at MBFW Swim 2012

July 20th, 2011

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Make Up For Ever Alliance Artist James Vincent served as key make up artist for the Luxe by Lisa Vogel show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami last weekend. The make up featured a strong eye and soft lip, a perfect match for the modern beach sophisticate inspired swimwear.

Complexion & Cheeks
The skin was sheer with a natural Miami glow. James added Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Blush #13 in pale pink to the cheeks for the most natural looking glow.

Eyes
The smoldering eyes boast a combination of blacks, browns and metallics for a classic look that is young and modern. James first applied Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #14 (warm satin brown) to the lids, then blended Make Up For Ever Eye Shadows #17 (espresso) and #165 (dark taupe brown) with Make Up For Ever Diamond Shadow #312 (dark copper shimmer) up into the crease. He added Make Up For Ever Metal Powder #1 in sunflower gold on top for added metallic dimension. James then lined the inner rim of the eyes with Make Up For Ever Khol Pencil #1K in black for a bit of rock n’ roll glam.

Lips
The lips were subtle with no hard lines or edges. James applied Make Up For Ever Lab Shine #S6, a soft peach, for a glossy look.
