Runway Beauty: Italy Inspired Romance at Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2016

October 1st, 2015

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

The Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2016 show in Milan presented a fashion collection which is the Designers’ tribute to Italy. The Designers’ vision, “Italy is Love”, was complemented by a makeup look highlighting luminous skin with a flawless, dewy finish; soft and smoky feline eyes and plump lips. Nails in a feminine, romantic shade completed the look.

Makeup: Pat McGrath for Dolce & Gabbana

To start, Dolce & Gabbana Essential UV Cream was first applied to hydrate the skin, followed by the Sheer Radiance Primer to build the perfect canvas for make up application. A flawless complexion was achieved using the Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation blended outward, from the center of the face out towards the ears. The Perfect Luminous Concealer was applied to the shadowed areas of the face and dabbed under the eyes, hiding blemishes and creating an impeccable base with an even skin tone. The cheeks displayed a warm, romantic flush by being delicately contoured with the new Blush in Bacio 50, which was swept onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears. The face was highlighted using The Illuminator in Eva 3 along the cheekbones and on the bridge of the nose, while the skin was set with a light dusting of The Pressed Powder across the nose and forehead.

The romantic, soft feline eye look was achieved with a base of Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Nude 30 blended across the eyelids. The two complementary shades of brown from The Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky 105 were mixed together and applied with a blending blush along the crease of the eyelids to create depth. For added definition, The Illuminator in Luna 4 was applied to the inner corner of the eyes and below the eyebrows. The upper lash lines were amplified by applying The Eyeliner in Chocolate 10 in an upward flick, and a line of the Glam Liner in Earthy Brown 2 was drawn along the upper lash line, to add an intense yet feminine feline finish. On the curled top lashes, layers of the Volumized Mascara in Black 1 were applied, paying special attention to the outer corners for definition and a lengthening finish.

The brows were sculpted with The Brow Liner in Soft Brown 1 and Mocha 3, using the wide part of the pencil nib with light, feathery strokes to fill the color outwards to the end of the brow, achieving a natural youthfulness to the face.

For beautiful, rosy plump lips, from the new collection of Dolce Matte Lipstick, a mixture of shades were combined to create perfectly tailored spring looks using Dolce Nudo 124, Miss Dolce 134, Dolce Dolcezza 212, Dolce Rosa 222, Dolce Sogno 223, Dolce Mamma 229, Dolce Excelsa 512 and Dolce Bacio 641. To give lips definition and to keep the lipstick in place, the lips were lined with The Lipliner in Mamma 17, Rosa 16, Dolcezza 15, Bacio 18 and Soft 6. Nails painted with The Nail Lacquer in Bella 210 evoke elegance and finish this soft and feminine Spring/Summer 2016 look.

Makeup: Polly Osmund for M·A·C Cosmetics
Hair: Sebastian Professional International Artist Anthony Cole
Nails: Jamberry

To create the eyes, the main focus of the makeup look, Osmund applied M·A·C Everyone’s Darlin’ Eyeshadow and topped Penny Arcade from M·A·C Trend Forecast Fall ’15/Eye over it to intensify the color. She added M·A·C Chrome Yellow Eyeshadow on the inner corners for a vivid contrast and M·A·C Mahogany Lip Pencil on the waterline. Osmund kept the rest of the face looking wet and almost sweaty with Face and Body Foundation or Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation and Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer, and added M·A·C Taupe Powder Blush and M·A·C PRO Gloss Texture to contour and highlight. The lips were hydrated with M·A·C Lip Conditioner and blotted down with foundation.

To get the hair look, Cole mixed 2 parts Sebastian Professional Mousse Forte with 1 part Sebastian Professional Gel Forte and applied it to the roots, taking 2 inch sections temple to temple from the nape of the neck up. With a flat brush, he blow dried the hair back, slightly directing the hair in the front to either side and making sure it was still brushed back. Next, he sprayed Sebastian Professional Shine Shaker on hair to create a wet look and took random pieces of hair from the side of the face before adding Sebastian Professional Gel Forte and Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber to help create waves. He then applied Sebastian Professional Liquid Steel to keep the waves together and in place and finished with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce.

Runway Beauty: Spanish Red Lips at Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2015

September 23rd, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

To complement the Spanish influences as seen at Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2015, Pat McGrath created a beauty look that consisted of soft plump lips, as if they were colored by the juice of fresh cherries and wide elongated eyes.

To prep the models for makeup, McGrath used Aurealux Mask, a new fabric mask from the Dolce & Gabbana skincare line, on the models. Next, she created the perfect canvas with The Primer: Sheer Radiance Make Up Base, Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation and Perfect Luminous Concealer. Then, she lightly contoured the face with The Blush: Luminous Cheek Color in Sole and Peach on the apples of the cheeks. The look was set with a light dusting of the Pressed Powder across the nose, forehead and chin and finished with Glow Illuminating Powder in Shimmer and Eva.

The eyes were gently outlined to widen and keep the simplicity. McGrath applied the bronze shades of the Smooth Eyeshadow Quad in Desert all over the eyelid and upward towards the brow line to further enhance the eyes. The upper and bottom lash lines were defined by applying the Crayon Intense Eyeliner in Chocolate. Along with the top of the upper lash line, a defined line of Intense Liquid Eyeliner in Black Intense was softly drawn to widen and perfect the eye. On the upper lashes, layers of Secret Eyes Mascara in Black were applied for a defined lash look and a lengthening finish. The brows were naturally sculpted with the Brow Liner in Chestnut, using the nib of the pencil to create additional definition. Broad strokes from the wide part of the nib were then used to fill the color outwards to the end of the brow achieving a natural youthfulness to the face.

To create the red lips, McGrath applied Classic Cream Lipstick in shades of Ultra and Amethyst on the outer parts of the lips and added Dolce Matte Lipstick in Dolce Desire on cupids bow and at the center of the lips, achieving a rich plump affect.

Runway Beauty: Glowy Skin with Red Lip at Zac Posen Spring/Summer 2015

September 10th, 2014

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At Zac Posen Spring/Summer 2015, the beauty focus was healthy, glowing skin paired with subtle glossy eyes, graphic red lips and a glossy feminine pompadour.

Makeup: Kabuki for M·A·C Cosmetics
Hair: Odile Gilbert for Kérastase Paris

“Simplicity is its strength, which fits with mood of this season’s collection.” Explained key make-up artist Kabuki. He first toned the skin with witch-hazel to get the skin very clean. Then, he applied a diffusing clear primer all over and a very sheer layer of Face & Body Foundation in warmer tones around the outside of the face and across the nose and cheeks. A bit of Something Special Crèmeblend Blush was used to heighten the translucent, sun-kissed look of the skin while Shine Mixing Medium added for an athletic glow on the top of the cheekbone. Any blemishes or discolorations showing through were hidden with Studio Finish Concealer applied with a tiny brush. A peach-toned concealer was used to brighten the under-eye area.

On the eyes, Groundwork Paint Pot was applied as a sheer layer to shape and lightly sculpt. M·A·C PRO Gloss Texture and M·A·C PRO Reflects Pearl Glitter were mixed together and swept over the eye for added dimension and shine while top and bottom lashes were coated with two coats of Haute & Naughty Black Lash Mascara.

To create the bold pout, Kabuki filled in the lips with Cherry Lip Pencil to enhance the natural lip shape before adding Red Lip Mix over the pencil for a deep orangy/red, semi-matte finish.

On dry hair, Gilbert created a deep side part and put an ample amount of Forme Fatale on the top and sides of the head for an ultra-glossy look. Using a small tooth comb, she combed the sides in an upwards motion, tight against the head and worked in more Forme Fatale. She added Lift Vertige to the front section for volume, and combed in an upward swoop to create a modern push wave, using the tail of the comb to detail the look. Next, she blow dried the push wave to set the style and applied Kératine Thermique throughout the rest of the lengths to create a shiny, wet look. Finally, she locked the style in place with Laque Noire.
