Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

The Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2016 show in Milan presented a fashion collection which is the Designers’ tribute to Italy. The Designers’ vision, “Italy is Love”, was complemented by a makeup look highlighting luminous skin with a flawless, dewy finish; soft and smoky feline eyes and plump lips. Nails in a feminine, romantic shade completed the look.

To start, Dolce & Gabbana Essential UV Cream was first applied to hydrate the skin, followed by the Sheer Radiance Primer to build the perfect canvas for make up application. A flawless complexion was achieved using the Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation blended outward, from the center of the face out towards the ears. The Perfect Luminous Concealer was applied to the shadowed areas of the face and dabbed under the eyes, hiding blemishes and creating an impeccable base with an even skin tone. The cheeks displayed a warm, romantic flush by being delicately contoured with the new Blush in Bacio 50, which was swept onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears. The face was highlighted using The Illuminator in Eva 3 along the cheekbones and on the bridge of the nose, while the skin was set with a light dusting of The Pressed Powder across the nose and forehead.

The romantic, soft feline eye look was achieved with a base of Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Nude 30 blended across the eyelids. The two complementary shades of brown from The Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky 105 were mixed together and applied with a blending blush along the crease of the eyelids to create depth. For added definition, The Illuminator in Luna 4 was applied to the inner corner of the eyes and below the eyebrows. The upper lash lines were amplified by applying The Eyeliner in Chocolate 10 in an upward flick, and a line of the Glam Liner in Earthy Brown 2 was drawn along the upper lash line, to add an intense yet feminine feline finish. On the curled top lashes, layers of the Volumized Mascara in Black 1 were applied, paying special attention to the outer corners for definition and a lengthening finish.

The brows were sculpted with The Brow Liner in Soft Brown 1 and Mocha 3, using the wide part of the pencil nib with light, feathery strokes to fill the color outwards to the end of the brow, achieving a natural youthfulness to the face.

For beautiful, rosy plump lips, from the new collection of Dolce Matte Lipstick, a mixture of shades were combined to create perfectly tailored spring looks using Dolce Nudo 124, Miss Dolce 134, Dolce Dolcezza 212, Dolce Rosa 222, Dolce Sogno 223, Dolce Mamma 229, Dolce Excelsa 512 and Dolce Bacio 641. To give lips definition and to keep the lipstick in place, the lips were lined with The Lipliner in Mamma 17, Rosa 16, Dolcezza 15, Bacio 18 and Soft 6. Nails painted with The Nail Lacquer in Bella 210 evoke elegance and finish this soft and feminine Spring/Summer 2016 look.

Runway Beauty: Fairytale Romance at Naeem Khan S/S 2016

October 1st, 2015 by Sarah No comments »

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2016, models rocked a quintessential feminine look which complemented the collection of gowns that represented a fairytale romance with vivid colors of the Mediterranean.

Makeup: Gato for Maybelline New York
Nails: Julie Kandalec for essie

Gato started with Fit Me! Dewy+smooth Foundation and Face Studio Master Conceal Concealer on the face. He brightened the eyes with Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer and contoured the edges of the face and cheekbones with Face Studio Master Contour. He added a touch of blush on the apples of the cheeks, blending in the faintest bit of Lip Studio Color Blur in Cherry Cherry Bang for a flushed pop.

On the eyes, Gato brushed the soft satin beige hue from The Blushes Nudes eyeshadow palette onto the lid before dusting blush from Master Contour on the crease. He traced the upper lashline with Eye Studio Brow Precise Shaping Eye Pencil in Deep Brown and finished with a single coat of The Push Up Drama Mascara in Black on upper lashes. Next, he filled in the brows with Brow Drama Pro Palette and set with Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Translucent.

Finally, Gato completed the look with a subtle berry stained lip using Baby Lips in Quenched and patting Lip Studio Color Blur in Cherry Cherry Bang using his fingers.

Inspired by the ornate, bejeweled pieces found throughout the collection, Kandalec created a nail design that mimicked jewels trailing down the nail. She started out with one thin coat of Topless & Barefoot and one coat of Limo-scene. Then, she dotted Set In Stones on the nail near the cuticle, working the glitter toward the free edge for a gradient effect before finishing with Gel Setter Top Coat.

Runway Beauty: Eygptian Beauty at The Blonds S/S 2016

September 17th, 2015 by Sarah No comments »

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

Inspired by Cleopatra, the Sphinx and various elements of Egyptology, The Blonds Spring/Summer 2016 Collection brought us a beauty look that is glistening and decadent.

Makeup: Kabuki for M·A·C Cosmetics
Nails: CND

“I would describe The Blonds collection as a fantasy of ancient Egypt set to a disco beat,” explained Kabuki on the inspiration for the makeup look. “I tried to capture this feeling by using lots of gold-on-gold tones and shimmers.”

The skin is tan and glowing using Matchmaster Foundation and Studio Finish Concealer where needed. The eyelid is primed with MAC Paints in Bamboom, a warm nude cream shadow. Vanilla Pigment is then layered on the center of the lid and used liberally as a highlighter for the temples and cheekbones. Sculpt and Bone Beige Sculpting Powders are used under the cheekbone and to contour the eyelid. #33 Eyelashes with a little Haute + Naughty Mascara at the root are used to open the eye but still keep the nude effect a la Versuschka. A handmade gold chrome applique was applied under the eye to imitate Egyptian eyeliner and compliment the jewelry.

Finally, the lip is created by drawing Stripdown Lip Pencil with Pillow Talk Lipstick on the outer part and How Tropical Lipstick in the center.

On the nails, each model wore a distinct style. The CND team hand-sculpted the nails and their larger-than-life embellishments with CND™ Liquid & Powder and BRISA™ Gel, then added layers of color with SHELLAC™ Brand 14+ Day Nail Color, VINYLUX™ Weekly Polish and CND™ Additives. Royal golden tones ruled the color palette – antiqued, shimmering and expensive – while accents of blue, turquoise, red and green added texture and dimension. Hieroglyphics, snake and crocodile skins, gold-plated wings, draped headdresses and scarab beetles were constructed and embellished with an array of unconventional materials, including feathers, foils, ribbons, chains, gems, jewels and stones. A sarcophagus nail even opened to reveal a mummified pharaoh donning the actual golden locks of designer Phillipe Blond.

Runway Beauty: Glam Rock at Creatures of the Wind S/S 2016

September 17th, 2015 by Sarah No comments »

Celebrity Makeup News and Blogs:

At Creatures of the Wind Spring/Summer 2016, models rocked a Siouxsie Sioux inspired glam rock look. “She always had a very strong eye look – it had the same spirit, but was applied differently each time. The look is very eclectic with a lot of layering, which plays off the layering in the collection. It’s punk, tough looking. I loved the richness of the gold against the toughness of the black. It’s an updated, modernized take on eyeliner,” explained de Mey.

Makeup: Aaron de Mey for NARS Cosmetics
Nails: Katie Jane Hughes for butter LONDON

The skin was first prepped with NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream then perfected with Stick Concealer and set with Soft Velvet Loose Powder.

On the eyes, de Mey created a dramatic wing with a variety of products (Black Valley Eye Paint, Via Veneto Larger Than Life® Eyeliner, Black Moon Eyeliner Pencil and Pandora Duo Eyeshadow). The gorgeous gold was the result of Iskandar Eye Paint topped with glitter. Brows were kept groomed with Oural Brow Gel and Brow Perfector.

To finish, de Mey gave models two different lip looks – a red using Mysterious Red Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and Nihiwatu Velvet Lip Liner; and a nude with just concealer and NARSskin Restorative Night Treatment.

On the nails, Hughes went for a simple yet bold look that was inspired by the hippie meets punk vibe of the collection. Four high-shine nail colors – white (Cotton Buds), blue (Skive), black (Union Jack Black) and yellow (Cotton Buds topped with Cheeky Chops)- were assigned to models based upon their look, and finished Patent-Gel Topcoat for a thick, high-shine finish.
